Carl the janitor played supurbly by John Kapelos is one my favourite characters in the film, although he only has a relatively small part. It's hard not to like his positive attitude and outlook on life given his profession and social status. He adds a touch of liveliness to a film that gets a little serious at times. The kids start out making fun of him, but quickly learn to respect what he is all about.

He was also in 16 Candles and Wierd Science, but I haven't seen him in anything else, although he has done quite a lot of work.
