There is a scene in the movie where John Bender is crawling through the roof to escape Vernon's closet, when he starts to tell himself a joke...

"A naked blonde walks into a bar carrying a poodle under one arm and a two foot salami under the other. She lays the poodle on the table. The bartender says "I guess you won't be needing a drink", and the naked lady says............."

At which point Bender falls through the roof into the Library screaming "Oh shit!", and we never get to hear the ending to the joke!

Well I can reveal now, because so many people ask about it...

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL ENDING TO THE JOKE

It was revealed many years ago in a magazine article that Judd Nelson made the joke up ad-lib, and if there is a punch line, only he knows it and it's the best kept secret in Hollywood! Sorry!

BUT!

If you want to know what I think the ending to The Joke is then here it is...

"............. NO SHIT!"

Ok, so it's NOT a funny ending, but it makes perfect sense if you think about it... Bender DID actually complete the ending to the joke as he was falling through the roof. He said "OH SHIT!" which can sound exactly like "NO SHIT!" if you were falling through a roof and trying to scream and talk at the same time!. Hence I hereby claim that "NO SHIT!" is the ending to the infamous John Bender joke that has baffled everyone for 15years.
